Hi, I'm Kate.
I help thoughtful small brands and solo business owners achieve meaningful growth through 1-2-1 guidance, intentional strategy and considered content creation.
Many people consider being a 'Jack of all Trades' to mean you're a master of none, but I disagree. The vast array of skills and knowledge I've built up as my career has progressed through a number of different, yet inter-connected, industries has helped me grow in ways I don't think I ever would have if I'd stayed on one clearly defined trajectory, and the people I've met along the way have contributed greatly to that.
Being able to work with so many talented, dedicated and passionate people helps me to stay fired up and engaged in all the different strands of the work that I do - and I wouldn't have it any other way!
In 2010, my magazine contacts and insight into the world of blogging helped me land an internship with pay-per-results Interiors PR agency Zero2one. I quickly progressed from intern to Account Executive to Agency Manager within 18 months, and continued to lead the team for a further 3 years, landing extensive coverage for my clients in the likes of The Telegraph, The Guardian, Evening Standard, Elle Decoration, Livingetc, Ideal Home and many more.
In 2017, I relocated from London to Manchester and my career came full-circle, as I again embarked on freelance life. Through word of mouth I gained numerous small brands and solo business owners as clients, and have worked with them in a number of diverse capacities since, including the roles of interim PR & Marketing Manager, content creator, stylist and business strategist. Perhaps I'll get the chance to work with you too?
After completing a BA in Film & Television Production, and spending two years managing the Home Interiors department at House of Fraser, I worked for 3 years as an intern and freelance styling assistant at publications including Wallpaper*, Elle Decoration, House & Garden and Livingetc.
In 2014 I came aboard as a Director at October Communications, a Digital Marketing Agency specialising in design and architecture, where I worked on crafting PR & Marketing strategies for decor brands and furniture designers, as well as delivering experiential and design-led events at international design fairs. To this day I continue to freelance for October on an ad-hoc basis.
In May 2009, I made the most significant decision of my career - most likely life - and set up my lifestyle blog, Fabric of my Life. Since then it has been listed in the Top 50 Interior Blogs by The Times Online, awarded Best Interior Blog at the Northern Blog Awards in 2017, and twice been shortlisted for Best Lifestyle Blog in the Amara IBAs.
